You upload a 7-minute video. Does that cost you 7 minutes, 8 minutes, or something else? This page answers that and a few related questions.
The math
Minutes used = the actual length of your video, measured in seconds, divided by 60.
- A 90-second video uses 1.5 minutes.
- A 7-minute 12-second video uses 7.2 minutes.
- No rounding up. If your video is 8 minutes 1 second, you used 8.0167 minutes, not 9.
ReplayDoc reads the duration from your video file directly, so what you uploaded is exactly what counts.
When you're charged
A minute counts when an extraction succeeds.
- If extraction fails (network drop, AI error, timeout), no minutes are charged.
- If you upload a video, watch it process, and it lands as a flow with steps, that's when the meter ticks.
Re-extracting the same video
Each extraction counts as a fresh charge. If you re-upload a video you already processed, it counts again.
The fix: don't re-upload. Edit the resulting flow instead. You can change titles, descriptions, screenshots, and step order without touching the video. That's free.
What happens when you hit your cap
Your upload is blocked before processing starts.
- ReplayDoc checks your remaining minutes against the video's duration the moment you submit.
- If the video would push you over, you get a "usage limit reached" message and the upload doesn't go through.
- This means you'll never accidentally burn through your cap mid-extraction.
To unblock yourself: upgrade your plan, wait for the next billing cycle, or trim the video.
When usage resets
For paid plans (Starter, Growth, Pro):
- Resets on your billing anniversary every month (or every year, if you're on annual).
- The reset happens automatically when Stripe processes your renewal invoice.
For Free:
- Never resets. The 5 minutes are a lifetime allowance for trying the product.
Where to see your usage
Hub → Billing page. You'll see:
- Minutes used this period
- Minutes remaining
- The date your usage resets
Common questions
Does failed extraction count? No. Only successful extractions consume minutes.
What if I re-extract because the AI got the steps wrong? That counts again. Edit the steps in the hub instead. You can rewrite titles and descriptions, swap screenshots, reorder, and delete without re-extracting.
Does watching or downloading my flows cost minutes? No. Minutes are only consumed at extraction time. Once a flow exists, it's free to view, edit, embed, and export forever.
Can I roll over unused minutes? No. Unused minutes don't carry into the next period. Pick the plan that fits your usual workload.
What about paused or cancelled subscriptions? You keep your minutes until the period ends. After that, you drop to Free with zero minutes. The Free tier's 5-minute pool is a one-time lifetime allowance and doesn't refresh on cancellation. Resubscribe to a paid plan whenever you're ready, and the new plan's minutes are available immediately.
